Kwikset Smart Lock

What is a smart lock? Many people will say a smart lock has wifi, a keypad, fingerprint entry or anything that doesn’t require you to insert the key to unlock. What a ‘smart lock’ really is, in most cases is a Kwik Set lock, with a small needle sized hole next to the key hole that allows you to rekey the lock in an instant. How? It all depends on if you have the actual key that unlocks it. By inserting the original key, turning the lock 90 degrees clock-wise, a small needle hole comes into play.  As the key is turned 90 degree, insert a little thin tool inside the needle size hole and press.  Often times you will hear or feel a small click—that means that you can take the key out without turning it back.  You then put a new key inside and are finished.  The lock now will operate to a different key.  The process described above is when you have the existing key.

Without a key, the situation becomes more complicated and necessitates a locksmith. You don't need to drill or replace the lock. A skilled locksmith can use a small camera to determine the lock's combination, create a new key, and unlock the door. Defense Locksmith is prepared to assist you with the latest tools and equipment, whether you need to get inside, have a new key made, or rekey the lock.
